There are more and more sprayers out around the countryside these days but they are still mostly thought of as a chemical applicator. There is more spraying it seems in recent years, weather it is using a pre-emerge herbicide for “full season control” or adding a fungicide to a flush crop to protect against the more and more common diseases or fungi robbing yield from their crops.
The one thing that is missed in all of these passes more often than not, is fertility! A fertility program shouldn’t end with the last pass of the spreader or planter/drill. Every pass that sprayer makes through that field allows a grower to fix things like “hidden hunger” and other nutrient deficiencies. Spit application N has been on the radar for a while now but adding a product like our Alpine SRN or Alpine CRN-B to a post application of herbicide or V-T fungicide allows for that boost of N in that crop and add a different source to the mix. It is always a good idea before applying a foliar fertilizer to contact your local agronomist, CCA, or an Alpine DSM and ask them about timing or products to use. Remember, the sprayer is more than just a chemical applicator!
