After a couple years of less than normal winter wheat acres in Ontario, growers are expected to play catch up this fall. In most areas of the province soybeans were planted earlier than most years, which should open up a wide window for growers to plant as much wheat as they want to this fall.
With favourable conditions this fall, Ontario will likely be covered in green next spring with an excess of a million acres in the ground. Planting wheat is a great way to split up the workload of harvest the following year, but it can also make for a busy few weeks in the fall while growers chase combines up and down fields with grain drills. One way that Alpine customers have saved precious time is by adding an ALPINE LIQUID FERTILIZER kit to their drills. This saves wheat producer’s time by applying their fertilizer as they plant; rather than having to make an additional trip across the field with a fertilizer spreader. Alpine customers have also found that, by placing HIGH QUALITY LIQUID FERTILIZER directly on the seed, their wheat emerges quicker, reduces winter kill and ultimately results in higher yields. Alpine has kits available for all makes and models of grain drills. For more information talk to your Alpine DSM or local Alpine dealer about the benefits of using Alpine products while planting your wheat this fall.
