Hi everyone, I’m the DSM for the Peace Country. We are situated within the North West corner of Alberta and the North East corner of British Columbia. I’ve been living in the area for the past 37 years and was once a full time farmer myself. Throughout the years that I have lived in the Peace Country, I have seen many changes. I’ve watched producers go from conventional tillage to about 85% of them transitioning to no till farming. There have been many advancements made in the various types of fertilizer and the Peace Country has advanced with the industry going from low fertilizer use to high use of nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers.
Due to a unique growing season in the Peace Region, where our spring and fall daylight hours last longer than most other regions, we have had to adapt our farming techniques to ensure that our crops receive proper nutrition so as not to advance too quickly or lag too far behind. This has fostered an environment of experimentation, and helped to progress the fertilizer industry. Alpine’s products speak for themselves when showing producers the results their products can yield. This was particularly true for the Peace Country this year as we suffered through drought conditions. There appeared to be a significant difference in the plants that were sprayed with Alpine’s Foliar spray and those that were not. I noticed that crops that were sprayed with Alpine’s Foliar spray during the growing season appeared healthier than the plants that weren’t sprayed. It has been quite fascinating watching the plants grow this year and I look forward to reporting on the results of the Foliar sprayed plants as they come in throughout the harvest season.
