Here we are again starting a new crop year from the Peace Country. Spring has come early this year with seeding about three weeks ahead of last year. The weather here has been extremely warm this spring with temperatures in the high 20’s at times.
Due to this seeding has progressed quite fast with some area in the Peace Country 95% completed and other areas only 20% complete. The Ft. St. John area in the Peace Country has had a lot of small forest fires in the area and the have been growing in size putting a lot of the farming area under evacuation notices. But in the mean time they continue with seeding. Condition here are getting very dry and in need of rain badly for the peace country. Some of the early seed crop are emerging and spraying has started on these crops. While in the Ft. St. John area I stop long enough to snap a picture of one of the forest fires in the area.
